Despite the fact that Democrats sat like quiet sheep for eight years while George W. Bush mangled the English language, Republicans thought it wise to shout during his speech last night. Republican Joe Wilson from South Carolina yelled “You lie!” when Obama said illegal immigrants would not get health care. (Hey, pal, when your gardener cuts his leg trimming your hedges, do you want to pay the hospital bill?) Actually, there were lots of things shouted out during this speech, but only Comedy.com’s microphones caught the rest. Here are the 10 Other Things Yelled During Obama’s Health Care Speech.
10. “Play Free Bird! Freeeeee Bird!”
Yelled by the gentlemen representing (Sweet Home) Alabama.
9. “Focus!”
Yelled by Senator Robert Byrd, who is practically a mummy and literally couldn’t see very well.
8. “Leeeeeeeeeeroy! Jenkins!”
Yelled by Governor Bobby Jindal, who was playing World of Warcraft on his BlackBerry.
7. “Twitter is down! Twitter is down!”
Yelled by Senator Chris Dodd, who wanted desperately to tell his constituents, “Speech is long. Running out of water. Why don’t pages fill pitchers ahead of time?”
6. “Go to your closer! Your closer!”
Yelled by Senator Al Franken, trying to give Obama useful comedian tips.
5. “May the power of Christ compel you!”
Yelled by Representative and religious kookball Michelle Bachman in an attempt to “exorcise” Democrats from the room.
4. “My jumpsuit is appropriate!”
Yelled by Representative Jean Schmidt who was still wearing her red-white-and-blew-it ensemble.
3. “You kids get off my lawn!”
Yelled by a mildly confused Senator John McCain to a group of reporters just outside.
2. “I’m so happy!”
Yelled by Senator Joe Lieberman, pictured below, discussing gun control with a colleague.
1. “Yeeeeeah! C’mon! Give it up for my nizzle, fo’ shizzle!”
Yelled by Vice President Joe Biden, trying to pump up the crowd.
