‘Spitting Image’ Is Inducted Into The Political Comedy Hall Of Fame

In the late ’80s and early ’90s, you knew you had made it to true international stardom if you found yourself turned into a puppet on ITV’s “Spitting Image,” a British program that was probably one of the most brilliant and fun bits of television satire ever produced. Using grotesque caricature puppets, “Spitting Image” poked fun at both British and American politicians, pop stars, sports stars and the media.

One of the best parts of the show, in this humble political humor blog’s opinion were when the puppets took aim at Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, which they did on a regular basis. In this clip, Ronald Reagan hires four new advisers that just also happen to be the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a major point he just happens to miss due to being busy with other things like… Mr. Potato Head. Check back each weekend for more Political Comedy Hall of Fame goodness!
