In the runup to the upcoming German Bundestag parliamentary elections, one candidate has made the issue more than policies or personality, instead asking the question “Who has the best cleavage?” Christian Democratic Union candidate Vera Lengsfeld has put up posters of herself in a low-cut dress comparing her cleavage to that of current German chancellor and fellow Christian Democrat Angela Merkel with the phrase “We have more to offer”, implying that the Christian Democrats are the party of boobies. And wherever there’s a boobie party, voters are sure to follow.
Christian Democratic Union leaders are not happy about the ads, but Lengsfeld thinks it would probably make Angela Merkel laugh, saying “I’m sure Ms Merkel is smiling about it. She’s got a sense of humor, after all.” Perhaps if this strategy works, we may see a cleavage vs. cleavage showdown in a future Palin – Hillary Clinton (who was last seen screaming at a reporter) presidential race? The world can only hold its breath and hope for the best.
